If you are struggling with low self-esteem, shame, guilt, perfectionism and worries about what other people think about you, you may be struggling with codependency. Difficulty setting boundaries, obsessions about people you are in a relationship with and staying in relationships, which are disrespectful or devalue you are also signs of codependency.
A term often paired with codependency is overfunctioning. Overfunctioners have difficulty setting boundaries, and have a tendency to take responsibility for other people’s work or problems. Your actions, feelings, and thoughts can become focused on worrying about others. It’s easy to lose track of what is most important: your own self-care.
